DESCRIPTION: Length up to 7mm. One of those stunning bugs that it is always a pleasure to come across due to its overall metallic, subtly punctate and impressively polished blue-green colouration. The hemelytral membrane is dark. BEHAVIOUR: A predatory species, with a fondness for leaf beetles in the genus Altica. This is an example of aggressive mimicry. They also feed on lepidoptera larvae. DISTRIBUTION: A widespread species throughout Britian but never seen in any great numbers. HABITAT: Damp grassland, open woodland, marshes, woodland rides and grassy hedgerows. PERIOD: Adults best seen in June and July.
